Mark C. Riley (MHA 2012) Awarded 2013 Special Ambassador Award

Mark Riley (MHA 2012) was awarded a 2013 Special Ambassador Award on behalf of the Special School District of St. Louis County. The award is the highest recognition given by SSD to honor those who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to the students and/or staff of SSD.

As manager of the wellness center at Monsanto, Mark Riley has invested in the wellness goals of students participating in the vocational skills program at Monsanto.

Students participate in fitness classes several times a week and Mark has taken the time to get to know them as individuals. When students expressed an interest in exploring a greater variety of classes, Riley helped make it happen. He modifies the classes as necessary to meet students’ needs and provides instruction to help them achieve their fitness objectives. The wellness center is also a work site for SSD students at Monsanto.

"Mark has been very committed to our program," SSD vocational skills teacher Lisa Sinak said in nominating him for the award. "He is always pleasant with our kids and answers just about every question the kids throw his way. Mark is most deserving of a Special School District Special Ambassador Award."
