The purpose of this course is to enhance your ability to merge and expound upon the financial and accounting concepts learned in prior coursework with the tools and techniques needed for day-to-day practice in the health care industry. The relevant use of financial and accounting information, and the development and utilization of various tools within a complex health care industry, will aid you in better understanding the general basis of financial decision making. More specifically, you will develop an understanding of financial statements and analysis, identify unique aspects of the health care industry, learn about the differences in the management of tax-exempt and investor-owned organizations, evaluate the impact of organizational and systematic risk characteristics in an evolving health care system, and much more.
