This course explores health organizations as dynamic systems, how they are structured, and how they are managed to carry out their social purpose. The emphasis is on management decision making, and the use of evidence for making better decisions. Health organizations are assumed to be complex adaptive systems, and the course will emphasize change management as key for organizations to adapt to tumultuous external and internal environments. Topics range from individual-level organizational behavior issues, to work design, leadership, governance, corporate mission and goals, and organizational strategies.
