This course is designed to provide an overview of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and their use in the provision of health care.  A problem based approach is used to frame both the theoretical underpinnings of  CDSS and their practical application. Students  will develop an understanding  of the mathematical foundations of CDSS as well as learn to identify clinical processes that might benefit from their use. Course content includes an in-depth overview of the theory and methods associated with development, appropriate selection, implementation, and management of CDSS. The course contains specific content around the ethical use of CDSS and around administrative issues, such a return on investment.
